Carly Patterson
In the 2004 Olympic all-around competition, American Carly Patterson was a little behind after two events. As one of the favorites for gold, she had scored lower than normal on both vault and uneven bars, and had to hit a great routine on the balance beam to take the lead over 3-time World Champion Svetlana Khorkina.
Despite the pressure, Patterson capped off her beam routine with a perfectly stuck double Arabian dismount (named the Patterson), a nearly-impossible move to stick. She grabbed the lead, and later that day, the Olympic all-around title.
